The Griffon Junior Singers were awarded a grant from the Missouri Arts Council.

 

Griffon Junior Singers

Griffon Junior Singers is an award winning choral ensemble co-sponsored by the Center for Community Arts and the St. Joseph School District.

The Griffon Junior Singers have performed for the Missouri Music Educators Association conventions at Osage Beach, National Association of Community Schools of the Arts convention in Minneapolis, Worlds of Fun, and many local civic and church events.

They also appear regularly with the St. Joseph Symphony Orchestra.

Griffon Junior Singers Auditions

 

Griffon Junior Singers offers three levels of participation:

Preparatory Choir - grades 2-4
A non-auditioned choir for children who love to sing and want to learn to sing well. Improved pitch matching, in-tune singing, vocal production and music fundamentals. Class size is limited to allow more individualized attention. This is a non-performing class with a parent demonstration at the final class.
Instructor: Karen Jensen
Wednesdays - 5:15-6:15 pm

Prelude Choir - grades 3-6
Emphasizes correct tone production, ear training, sight singing, musicianship and poise. Singers must be recommended by their music teacher for placement. The choir performs a varied repertoire in at least one large concert setting per semester in preparation for Premiere Choir. Audition, pre-registration and costume required.

Tuesdays - 5:30-6:45 pm

Premiere Choir - grades 5-8
Primarily for graduates of Prelude Choir. Only exceptional young musicians with prior choral experience and music teacher recommendation are accepted into this group. A strong emphasis is placed on public performance. Audition, pre-registration and costume required.
