COURSE DELIVERY METHODS

Courses are offered via the following delivery methods:

Distance Education Courses
Traditional High School College Credit


Distance Education

Courses taught by MWSU faculty online, via cable television, videotape, combination of online and video, and other video delivery systems to high school students for high school college credit. There are three categories:

Video/Face-to-Face Combination Distance Education
Combination of video lectures from a MWSU faculty member and the skills of the high school teacher to conduct the labs in the high school and supplement the video instruction.

Online/Video Combination Distance Education
Consists of videotaped lectures with online course management for assignments, tests and other communication. An on-site lab will be conducted at the beginning and end of the semester.

Online Distance Education

NOTE: Distance education courses are designed specifically to meet the needs of schools where teachers do not meet the requirements to teach dual credit coursework.

Traditional High School College Credit

College general education courses taught in high schools by high school teachers.

Subject areas include Math, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish, English, Engineering, French and History.

The high school faculty must be approved by the appropriate MWSU academic department chair to teach the class for college credit. A minimum of a master's degree that includes substantial study appropriate to the academic field in which they are teaching is required. High school faculty work with an assigned Western faculty member to develop the class, testing procedures, professional development, etc.
