Traditional High School College Credit

College general education courses taught in high schools by high school teachers. Subject areas include Math, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish, English, Engineering, French and History.

Western Institute currently offers the following Traditional High School College Credit courses. Please call us or check with your counselor to find out which specific courses are offered at your high school.

  • ART 100 Introduction to Art (3 credit hours)
  • ENG 104 College Writing and Rhetoric (3 credit hours)
  • MAT 199 Trigonometry (3 credit hours)
  • MAT 130 Pre-Calculus (3 credit hours)
  • MAT 167 Calculus (3 credit hours)
  • BIO 101 Principals of Biology (5 credit hours)
  • EGT 205 Computer Aided Drafting (3 credit hours)
  • SPA 102 Elementary Spanish I (3 credit hours)
  • SPA 202 Elementary Spanish II (3 credit hours)
  • FRE 102 Elementary French I (3 credit hours)
  • FRE 202 Elementary French II (3 credit hours)
  • HIS 100 Ancient and Medieval Civilization (3 credit hours)
  • HIS 110 Early Modern Civilization (3 credit hours)
  • HIS 140 American History to 1865 (3 credit hours)
  • HIS 150 American History Since 1865 (3 credit hours)

The high school faculty must be approved by the appropriate MWSU academic department chair to teach the class for college credit. A minimum of a master's degree that includes substantial study appropriate to the academic field in which they are teaching is required. High school faculty work with an assigned Western faculty member to develop the class, testing procedures, professional development, etc.
