Incarcerated Individuals Program

The Youthful Offenders program assists and encourages incarcerated youths to acquire post-secondary education.The Incarcerated Individuals Program is a federally granted program through the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Correctional Education.

The program is designed to assist and encourage incarcerated persons to acquire a post-secondary education certificate or an Associate of Arts or Bachelor’s degree, life skills, employment counseling, and other related services.

Individuals who meet the following criteria are eligible to participate in the Incarcerated Individuals Program:
• Must be 18-35 years old
• Must be within seven years of release date
• Must have a high school diploma or GED

The program is administered through an Interagency agreement Missouri Department of Corrections and MWSU. Programs are offered at Western Reception Diagnostic Correctional Center, Chillicothe Correctional Center and Western Missouri Correctional Center.
