Pass the Power Adult Literacy

 

Pass the Power Adult Literacy program recruits, trains and manages community and student volunteers to serve as literacy tutors and small group facilitators for adult literacy programming in the St. Joseph area.

Tutoring and small group classes are offered in the following areas to qualified applicants:

  • Basic skills (reading, writing, math)
  • GED preparation
  • English as a second language (serving foreign-born adults)
  • Citizenship
  • Workplace skills development
  • Family literacy

Services are offered to students at no charge. The program is supported through local donations and grants. Tutoring is done at various public sites (i.e. libraries, community centers, churches and schools) around the community. Day and evening sessions are available.

The program office is located at the Downtown Center Campus at 515 N. 6th Street in St. Joseph.
