The Youthful Offenders program is a federally granted program through the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Correctional Education. The program is designed to assist and encourage incarcerated youths to acquire a post-secondary education certificate or an Associate of Arts or Bachelor’s degree, life skills, employment counseling, and other related services. Eligible offenders must be age 25 or less, have a verified high school diploma or GED, and have less than five years before they will be eligible for release. The program is administered through an Interagency agreement Missouri Department of Corrections and MWSU. Programs are offered at Western Reception Diagnostic Correctional Center, Chillicothe Correctional Center & Western Missouri Correctional Center.
