Professional Skills Certificate

In today's work world, many skills are needed for entry-level positions. Manufacturing companies, service industries, and health care all use the following courses to upgrade their present employees. Open a door for a new position or enhance your present position by earning a Professional Skills Certificate in Administrative Support.  Call Sherry Lisenbee at 816-271-4100 to schedule an appointment for planning your program.

All courses you take must be pre-approved. That is, they must be listed on the approved classes sheet or approved by the Director, Western Institute.

To earn the certificate, you must earn a C or better in each class that is for credit, and successfully complete each class that is for noncredit.

To be awarded the Level 1 or 2 certificate, you will be required to present your transcript (for credit classes) and Professional Skills class certificates (for noncredit.) When taking classes for noncredit, you must request the Professional Skills class certificate when you enroll.

You may apply up to 60 contact hours of class time toward your Professional Skills Certificate from the following areas:

  • Classes taken previous to starting the program (by approval).
  • Classes taken at other institutions.
  • Computer classes in which you test out.

You may choose to enroll in a higher level class than is required for the Certificate.
To earn your Level 1 or 2 Certificate, fulfill requirements listed for each skill area.
