Sites: The Met, Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney, Chelsea galleries, DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) galleries, Adam Baumgold Gallery, Times Square,The Guggenheim, Central Park, China Town, Little Italy
Class Meetings: Monday, March 25th, 3 pm in Potter 107 and Wednesday, April 3rd, 3 pm in Potter 107
Credit Hours: 2
Estimated Cost: $898.00 + tuition
Instructor: Geo Sipp, Professor of Art
Description: An intensive museum and gallery experience in New York City. Students will visit the Met, MOMA (Museum of Modern Art), the Whitney, as well as various galleries in Chelsea and DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). Students also visit the Adam Baumgold Gallery, the gallery at which Geo Sipp, the instructor of this course, is represented and exhibits. The gallery closes to accommodate the students, and they are provided information as to how a professional gallery operates. This is an opportunity for students to share in a dialogue about art and perception.

Thursday, April 4
12:00 pm --------- Arrive in Manhattan. Check into the Hotel Newton and stow bags
12:30 pm -------- Meet outside the hotel entrance/ go as a group to buy subway passes
2:15 - 3:15 pm -- The Adam Baumgold Gallery
4:00 - 5:30 pm -- Free time
5:30 pm ---------- Meet outside the hotel to go as a group to Little Italy / Chinatown area
7:00 - 9:00 pm -- The New Museum
Have dinner in Little Italy and then free time to shop and explore area in groups.
Friday, April 5
9:00 am ------------ Meet outside of hotel, take bus to the Met
9:30 am ------------ The Metropolitan Museum of Art
1:30 - 4:00 pm ---- Free time
4:00 - 8:00 pm ---- MOMA (The Museum of Modern Art)
6:00 - 9:00 pm ---- The Whitney Museum of American Art
Saturday, April 6
10:00 am --------- Meet outside of hotel, take subway to the Chelsea area
10:40 am --------- The Chelsea Galleries
12:00 - 5:00 pm - Free time
5:45 - 7:45 pm --- The Guggenheim
Sunday, April 7
Free Day -------- Meet back at 3:00pm in hotel ready to load bus to airport
