Bachelor of Science in Technology
Degree Completion:
Start with an AAS and AS degree, add a concentration and general education courses, earn a bachelor's degree with a career-oriented emphasis.
The BST degree allows students to add a concentration of at least 30 hours, designed in collaboration with faculty advisors, to an existing associate’s degree in a technical area. For example, you might add 30 hours of business-related courses to a health care, engineering tech or computer science tech associate’s degree to be better prepared to move into a management position within your career field.
Individuals with an AS or an AAS degree can earn a BST degree by:
- Completing Missouri Western’s general education requirements for a bachelor’s degree. These courses (e.g., additional humanities, social science, science courses) may be completed at regional community colleges, online, or at Missouri Western.
- Developing a concentration related to your career goals. A minimum of 10 courses is required.
- Completing at least 30 hours of junior and senior level coursework. (Typically, these 30 hours will overlap substantially, or entirely, with the concentration.)
- Maintaining a 2.3 GPA in the concentration.
- A minimum of 124 credits is required for graduation.
Samples of combinations of AAS or AS degrees and concentrations:
Any combination of an AAS/AS degree and junior and senior level coursework is possible, provided it is educationally sound and clearly supportive of a career goal.
